Christmas in Mozambique

"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory,
glory as the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
~John 1:14

On Christmas Eve, I enjoyed a special outing with the girls for a chicken lunch... I was the only one who got pizza. :) We had a really sweet time: talking, remembering, playing games, exercising patience, taking pictures and enjoying our food! Thankful for the gift of unhurried time together.

Christmas Eve dinner on the compound....
I'm thankful for friends to celebrate together.

I'm thankful for new Christmas traditions.  :)

                                                                           Maria and I

This evening we had a  Christmas Eve worship time of singing and dancing, the nativity story, and lighting and relighting of candles.  :)

                                                                        Christmas Day

Today 4,600 children from the communities all around Pemba came to the compound for a Christmas meal of of chicken, rice, cabbage and a coke. Children were in line, watched the nativity story, and had their lunch or dinner  sometime between 11:00-6:30. As I got to wash many of the children's hands after they had chicken, I pray that they are washed in and know the Lord's abundant love for them.

A favorite part of the day for me was to get to be with the girls when they opened their gifts.
I also got to spend Christmas evening with them, as it was my last night in Pemba, for awhile. :)

I hope you also had a special Christmas!

His blessings of joy to you,
Katie
